Inner Knowing

Despite my longing
To hear
My inner voice
Beyond a doubt

Given a choice
My deepest fear
Often pushes out
My knowing

The long arm
Of uncertainty
Sounds the alarm
As I whisper faintly
“I don’t know”

I write
Meditate
Hum prayerful chants
Commune with my guides,
Yet my mind overrides
And quickly supplants
The part that does know

When I do decide,
The “what ifs” collide
Against finality.
I’m caught in the duality
Of gambling infinity
For a guarantee

So here’s to hoping
That despite the hedging
I’m slowly honing
My inner knowing
With all the Om-ing
