Ode to Slowness
Slow, languid
Deep breaths,
I return to myself.
Gentle movements
Through space,
Under-water
Dancing
In a river
Of chi
As I slow down,
I catch up
To Earth’s
Natural rhythm,
And we synchronize
Once more.
In a culture
High on speed,
Amped up
On cortisol and adrenaline,
We’re split off
From our souls
And each other,
From the planet
We’re trampling
Into rapid ruin
Running around
Like crazed robots,
Chasing after time
And ourselves.
May we remember
To take a moment
To breathe
To gaze
To feel
To love
To be…
AMAZED
I am slow.
I was always slow.
Not of mind
But of body.
A source of shame
My whole life,
I am finally learning
To love
That part of me.
To claim it
Whole-heartedly.
To cherish
That longing
For space
Ease
Flow
A return
To my deepest
Knowing
The only way
Not to waste time,
Is to
Relish
Every
Minute
Ever
So
Slowly.
