Of the Earth

On Earth.

On.

Simple preposition.
Two innocent letters.
And yet.
So much distance between the two words.

On Earth.

Assuming the planet is here to carry us
on her back, like a beast of burden.

As though we were not born from her womb.

Missing the -e to make us
On-e.

On.

Can we at least trade the forlorn -n for an -f?

Of.
Small, but mighty.

Of the Earth.
Belonging and community.

Harder to trample on one
we are a part of.

Not apart.
